Ivermectin is the active ingredient in Vermectin or Stromectol. It is classed as an anti-parasitic drug used to treat threadworms and roundworms.
Due to its extortionate cost in the UK (100 GBP per tablet) it is usually only recommended for scabies which is resistant to the more common anti parasitics such as Lyclear cream and Derbac lotion.
Ivermectin is also used for River Blindness and chronic Strongyloides. Strongyloides is a nematode infection which commonly affects birds and reptiles as well as humans. Relimeds uses the brand by Sun Pharma, Ivermectol.
Please note that in the UK ivermectin is an unlicensed drug which means that a UK doctor hold personal responsibility for prescribing the product rather than the manufacturer.
This does not apply if buying online from outside the UK.
