Duac gel is a popular gel used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris in people over the age of 12. It contains clindamycin 1% and benzoyl peroxide 5%. Clindamycin is an antibiotic which kills the bacteria causing the acne whilst benzoyl peroxide also kills the bacteria and increases cell turnover and unblocks pores.
Some people also report that previous scarring appears diminished. In the UK it is available as a 15g and 45g tube of 3% and 5% from Stiefel Laboratories. At PulsarMeds we supply Duac as Clindoxyl also made by Glaxo and marketed by Stiefel Laboratories in a 15g tube of 5% benzoyl peroxide gel.
It needs to be kept in the fridge before dispensing, once in use it does not need to be refrigerated and the gel expires 2 months after the seal is broken.
